Accomplishments

Markus has been a leader on council since joining in 2018.  He has served three terms as Majority Leader, two terms as President, and twice been Vice Chair of the Budget Committee.  He is known for his common sense approach to problem solving and is well respected across the community.

While in office, Markus has helped drive dramatic improvements across D17 and the city of Louisville.  Some of his accomplishments include:

• Reopening the Middletown library
• New playground equipment in Hounz Lane and Berrytown Parks
• New equipment in the Berrytown Community Center
• Increased paving and sidewalk budgets
• Opening of the 8th Division LMPD headquarters in D17
• Traffic improvements along Westport Rd
• No new apartment approvals in D17
• Creation of the 'Another Way' anti panhandling initiative
• Significant improvements in city-wide economic development
• ...and more!

In short, Markus has been involved with every major decision in the city over the past 7 years and has worked to ensure investments across the district meet the needs of residents.  He is responsive, smart, and effective.
